R & G crash protectors are more than standard mushrooms they use de-embrittled high-tensile steel bolts, designed not to snap off on impact, and comprise of compression sleeves inside the bobbins, which are designed to scrub speed from crashes quickly and minimize damage to frames and fairings in most crash scenarios.

Some R & G mushrooms require fairing modifications, so please check the fitting guides before you buy.

Fitting Instructions 
Top engine mount / 16mm holes

Nearside

• Remove fairing
• Undo top engine torque bolt
• Paint end of bolt with Tippex or white paint
• Replace fairing in order to make an impression on the inside of the panel
• Remove fairing
• Pilot drill centre of guide mark made by paint or Tippex (drill inside outwards)
• Refit fairing and ensure that pilot hole lines up with bolt
• Drill carefully using a 16mm tank cutter (hole saw), from outside inwards
• Turn engine bolt around, so that it comes through from the back of the frame
• Take shorter of the two metal bars and screw M12 end onto engine bolt, until hand tight
• Refit fairing panel
• Screw on bobbin, torque up the M10 bolt, not forgetting washer

Offside

• Repeat as above, except using the longer of the two metal bars supplied
